Colombia Tries Again: Can Peace Be Achieved This Time?

New rounds of negotiations are underway in Colombia between the government of President Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC, Latin America’s oldest insurgency. What are the prospects for success this time around? To gain perspective on why the environment may be right for progress, we spoke with one of Colombia’s most accomplished journalists, Enrique Santos Calderón. Mr. Santos is the brother of President Juan Manuel Santos and he played a key role in contacts with the FARC leading up to formal peace talks.
