WASHINGTON – The Wilson Center hosted former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a group of Fulbright Fellows on July 29 to commemorate the J. William Fulbright-Hillary Rodham Clinton Fellowships, a new fellowship under the State Department’s Fulbright program in honor of Secretary Clinton.

Secretary Clinton provided remarks on the fellowship and importance of international engagement, with a welcome by Wilson Center Director, President, and CEO Jane Harman and an introduction by Tom Healy, chairman of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

The Fulbright-Clinton Fellowships were inaugurated in the 2012-2013 academic year. Fellows serve in professional placements in foreign government ministries or institutions, functioning in a “special assistant” role for a senior level official. The fellowships promote long-term ties between the U.S. and the partner country.
