About the Global Womens Leadership Initiative

The Global Women’s Leadership Initiative (GWLI) serves the Women in Public Service Project (WPSP), which moved to the Wilson Center from the State Department in June, 2012. The Initiative will promote networks among women leaders, mentoring, and training of emerging women leaders, in support of the goal of 50% female public servants by 2050.

Rangita de Silva de Alwis, formerly of Wellesley College, is serving as the GWLI’s first director.

This summer, the Global Women’s Leadership Initiative (GWLI) at the Wilson Center, in partnership with the Ford Foundation, will launch two roundtable discussions,“Looking Back at the Fourth World Conference on Women: Beijing +20.” and “A Conversation on Women’s Leadership”, bringing together experts in women’s human rights law, business, and academia.
