Canada Institute Welcomes Public Policy Scholar Daniel Béland
Daniel Béland is a Professor of Public Policy at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada. He is a political sociologist and analyzes politics and public policy from a comparative and historical perspective. He is the French editor of the Canadian Journal of Sociology and is a committee member in the Aid to Scholarly Publications Programme (Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences). This November, the Oxford University Press is publishing his co-authored book, Nationalism and Social Policy. Currently, Béland is writing Reshaping American Social Policy? with Alex Waddan and is editing volumes discussing the ideas and politics in social science research and the public-private dichotomy in social policy.
Béland will be with the Canada Institute from January to April 2008 working on a project entitled "The Territorial Politics of Fiscal and Social Policy in Canada and the United States."
