CEF Director, Jennifer Turner Interviewed by People’s Daily on U.S. China Climate Cooperation

In an People’s Daily editorial about the U.S. China Climate Cooperation deal reached last November, CEF director Jennifer Turner, said the U.S.‐China Clean Energy Research Center (CERC) established under the agreement is of special importance.

“A decade ago, climate change issues are a controversial topic between the U.S. and China. The turning point appeared in 2009 when the both countries established the U.S.‐China Clean Energy Research Center (CERC). Since then, the Sino-US climate change cooperation became more common in the fields such as clean coal and electric vehicles,” said Turner. She believes that the landmark U.S-China Climate agreement reached last November facilitated the cooperation even further.

U.S. and China are two big energy consumers and emitters. The U.S. technology innovation and China’s advantages in practical experiences will benefit these two economies enormously.
