CEF Director Jennifer Turner interviewed by VOA on China's new Air Pollution Action Plan

Dr. Turner mentioned the importance and challenges of the new action plan.

On September 12 China's State Council issued a new Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Air Pollution, which outlines 35 specific measures to crub pollution, recrease coal consumption, optimize industrial structure, and forster renewable energy development.

Dr. Jennifer Turner, during an interview with Voice of America, discussed how the Plan demonstrates Beijing's determination to a better environment and air quality to the public, but it also comes with challenges in terms of a ever growing energy and electricity consumption even in the face of a ban to new coal-fired power plants.
