Economic improvements possible with immigration reform - Mexico Institute in the News (In Spanish)

Andrew Selee of the Wilson Center noted that we might see a return of circular migration, which would benefit Mexican communities. "Now people who go to the US without documents know that returning to Mexico ends their options so they stay in the US. With visa options, they may choose to come and go again."

Andrew Selee, del Instituto de México del Woodrow Wilson Center, puso sobre relieve otros dos efectos que tendría la iniciativa: un mayor número de hispanos en condiciones de votar y un regreso a la migración circular (de ida y vuelta).

"Ahorita, la gente se queda en Estados Unidos porque saben que regresar a México es un punto final a sus opciones", indicó Selee. "Podríamos ver el regreso de la migración circular, que sería bastante benéfica para las comunidades de México", completó.
 

Selee dijo que si hay una legalización masiva de mexicanos, algunos se despegarán del País para invertir más en Estados Unidos, mientras que otros van a incrementar los giros a sus familias.

"No sabemos cuál de los dos efectos va a ser más fuerte. Uno indica que podría bajar el impacto de las remesas y otro que podría subir", matizó.
