Plataforma Democrática, a Brazil-based discussion forum, released the attached document last week, following the historic announcement on December 17 by presidents Barack Obama and Raul Castro of their decision to normalize the United States-Cuba relations. The text, in Spanish, summarizes a series of interviews conducted earlier in 2014 by Plataforma directors, Sergio Fausto and Bernardo Sorj, on challenges and possibilities of constructive engagement by the international community in general, and Latin America in particular, in support of the ongoing changes in Cuba.
The publication of the document, initially scheduled for early 2015, was moved up in view of the new dynamic in regional and international relations introduced by the Obama and Castro.
