We are proud to share with you the Report of the first Women in Public Service Project (WPSP) Institute outside of the United States. The WPSP at the Asian University for Women brought together fifty students from the Asian region including 15 students from Afghanistan to build an innovative incubator for women’s leadership in public service. The students engaged in drafting model public policy initiatives to address some of the urgent challenges in their communities and countries. The highlight of the Institute were student policy briefs which featured synopses of key policy analysis intended to frame issues, inform decisions and guide policy action in the economic, social and political  environments of their communities and countries.

The Institute was taught by Rangita de Silva de Alwis, Director of the Global Women’s Leadership Initiative at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

See the attached PDF (below) for the full report and student policy briefs.

Council of Women World Leaders

In 2011, the Council of Women World Leaders became part of the Wilson Center at its initiative. Over time, the Council felt that it required greater independence than was possible as part of the Global Women’s Leadership Initiative at the Center. As of April 5, 2013, the Council is no longer part of the Wilson Center but looks forward to partnering with the Center on programming promoting women’s leadership. The Council thanks the Wilson Center for its continued commitment to global women’s leadership.
