Wilson Center's China Environment Forum Highlighted in Congressional Testimony by Elizabeth Economy

The U.S. China Economic and Security Review Commission held a Hearing on Major Internal Challenges Facing the Chinese Leadership on 2 February 2006, in which two of the speakers addressed China's environmental problems. Hearing can be viewed here.

Elizabeth C. Economy (C.V. Starr Senior Fellow and Director, Asia Studies,
Council on Foreign Relations) spoke on China's environmental challenges. In her
testimony she recommended that the U.S. government could help enhance existing efforts promoting rule of law and environmental governance in China, such as the Woodrow WIlson Center's China Environment Forum. Her testimony can be viewed here.

Mr. Jerry Clifford (Deputy Assistant Administrator, Office of International
Affairs, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) spoke on the Chinese government's challenges in addressing environmental problems. His testimony can be viewed here.
