Woodrow Wilson Awards to Honor Richard W. Fisher and Myron E. Ullman III in Dallas

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars will present awards to two distinguished Dallas leaders on September 19, 2014, at The Belo Mansion in Dallas. Ambassador Ron Kirk, former Mayor of Dallas and partner at Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher will provide opening remarks. Randall L. Stephenson, Chairman and CEO of AT&T will provide closing remarks.

WASHINGTON – The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars will present awards to two distinguished Dallas leaders on September 19, 2014, at The Belo Mansion in Dallas. Ambassador Ron Kirk, former Mayor of Dallas and partner at Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher will provide opening remarks. Randall L. Stephenson, Chairman and CEO of AT&T will provide closing remarks.

Richard W. Fisher, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, will receive the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service. Myron E. Ullman III, Chief Executive Officer of J.C. Penney, will receive the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship.

Since 1998, the Wilson Center has awarded the Woodrow Wilson Award to individuals whose actions and accomplishments, either in their careers or through service, reflect former President Woodrow Wilson’s belief that “there is no higher religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed.”

National and international recipients of the Woodrow Wilson Award include Bernard Arnault, William T. Clements, Jr., Dr. Henry A. Kissinger, T. Boone Pickens, General (Ret.) Colin Powell & Roger Staubach, Penny Pritzker, and Rex Tillerson, among others.

Honorary Co-Chairs of the dinner include Nobel Laureate Dr. Michael S. Brown, Dr. Kenneth Cooper, retired Texas Instruments Chairman Thomas J. Engibous, Dr. Joseph L. Goldstein, Ray L. Hunt, former Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, the Honorable Ronald Kirk, retired Exxon Mobil Chairman and CEO Lee R. Raymond, AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall L. Stephenson and ExxonMobil CEO Rex W. Tillerson.

2. Richard W. Fisher
Ambassador Fisher assumed the office of president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas on April 4, 2005. In this role, Fisher serves as a member of the Federal Open Market Committee, the Federal Reserve's principal monetary policymaking group.

3. Myron E. Ullman III
Mr. Ullman recently returned as Chief Executive Officer of J.C. Penney to lead a turnaround of the Company after an unsuccessful strategy was undertaken to move the retailer upmarket.  He retired as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of J.C. Penney in late January 2012 having served since December 2004.
