Forward Deployed Naval Forces

August 3, 2011

This week on dialogue, guests Pete Pagano, a captain in the United States Navy and commander of the USS Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group, and Mark Desens, a colonel in the United States Marine Corps and commander of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, discuss their nine month deployment across Southwest Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.  The Navy Marine Corps team they led completed a wide range of missions including the dramatic rescue of a downed fighter pilot. They join us today to talk about their experiences and the role that forward deployed naval forces play in U.S. defense and national security.
