Rethinking the Economics of War

Apr 10, 2006 to Apr 16, 2006

Cynthia Arnson, Director, Latin America Program at the Woodrow Wilson Center

The seemingly endless wars of the third world are conflicts based on grievance, ideology and avarice. The relationships between these forces evolve and change over time with a predatory claim on resources often becoming the sustaining force of conflicts as they mature. This intricate and volatile mix of "need, creed and greed" – calls for careful analysis and the development of integrated strategies and early intervention to resolve these wars. Cynthia Arnson explains these interrelationships.
