Overview

Rep. Kim Moo-Sung, Chairman of the Korean Saenuri Party (New Frontier Party) addressed a luncheon of invited experts and distinguished guests and discussed the US-ROK alliance and national unification on the occasion of the sixty-second anniversary of the Korean War armistice. Rep. Kim Moo-Sung was elected Chairman of the Saenuri Party (New Frontier Party) in July 2014. A five-term lawmaker, Chairman Kim began his service in the National Assembly in 1996 as a part of the 15th National Assembly. He represents the Yongdo District of Pusan and is a member of the Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans & Fisheries Committee.

Chairman Kim served in the Kim Young-sam administration as senior presidential secretary for civil affairs in 1993-1994. He worked as the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs in 1994-1995. In 2005, he was the Secretary-General of the Grand National Party(GNP), the predecessor of the Saenuri Party. In 2007-2008, he was a member of the Supreme Council of the party. In 2010, Kim served as the floor leader of the GNP. In 2012, he also worked as the general director of the Central Election Measures Committee of the party and contributed to win the party’s presidential election.

Before entering politics, Chairman Kim worked in the steel industry and was the CEO of Sam Dong Industrial Co. Ltd in 1976. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Hanyang University and an honorary PhD in political science from Pukyong National University.
