Members of the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Strategic Research Center will discuss Turkish Foreign Policy in the Middle East in the context of the Arab Spring. They will try to shed light on the factors that influenced Turkey's response to the democratic uprisings of the last three years, with special emphasis on the Syrian case. The Strategic Research Center is the Ministry's in-house think-tank to establish channels of communication between policy makers and the academic and research community. It also works as a consultative body to provide foreign policy decision makers with scholarly assessments of relevant issues and reviews Turkish foreign policy with a future perspective.

Kazakhstan is rich in natural resources and ancient, unique cultures that have long attracted attention of Western travelers. Early American travelers made significant contributions in preserving Kazakhstan’s history as witnesses to its nomadic culture and through their photographs, drawings, and diaries. Saule Satayeva includes Kennan Institute namesake George Kennan who, together with American painter George Frost, wrote evocative essays and created numerous drawings and photographs.

The Canada Institute launched the 16th issue of its One Issue, Two Voices series in Toronto on May 22, 2013. Addressing the problem of executive labor mobility, the publication and the panel addressed the barriers that professionals face when crossing the Canada-U.S. border on business. The moderator, Eileen Martin, who has extensive experience in immigration law as well as at border crossings as a customs agent, discussed the reality of what happens at the border; the two authors discussed the challenges faced by their members.
