The Wilson Council

The Wilson Council is the private-sector advisory group of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Membership in the Wilson Council comes only by invitation from the Board of Trustees, and is drawn largely from the worlds of business, the professions, and public service. Through their various experiences in both the public and private world, Wilson Council members help us achieve our mandate to bring together the world of learning and the world of public affairs.

The Council meets three times a year to hear reports on the state of the Center and to participate in stimulating programs on topics of interest in our world today with distinguished experts and scholars in residence at the Center. Our schedule calls for the Council to meet early in the months of February, June and October. In conjunction with each of these meetings, a dinner is held to gather Council members, Board members and close friends of the Wilson Center to interact with one another and enjoy guest speakers. Past speakers at these dinners have included the Honorable Richard Holbrooke, US Ambassador to the United Nations; Senator Chuck Hagel; Senator Joseph Biden; Secretary of Commerce Don Evans; and Senator John McCain, among many others.

Advisory Committees - Wilson Council members have the opportunity of getting involved in areas of interest, learning more about Center activities, attending meetings, lending time and expertise to help further the mission of these Programs.
