As we all know by now, widely accepted demographic projections are depicting the 21st century as an age of great upheavals. Declining and aging populations in Europe combined with accelerated immigration of young Muslims could create a destabilizing force across the continent. However it’s important to remember that sophisticated demographic projections have been maddeningly off target in the past, and there is recent strong evidence pointing to a much different profile for the world in 2050. Martin Walker, senior director of A.T. Kearney’s Global Business Policy Council and a senior scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center explains.
