Project: Dr. Harrison’s forthcoming book on Soviet-East German relations from 1953 and 1961 relies extensively on her work in archives of the former Soviet Union and East Germany. Examining the process leading up to the building of the Berlin Wall, she demonstrates the ways in which the weaker East Germans were able to exert leverage on the Soviets to persuade them to build the Berlin Wall.
