Internship Opportunities Available with ECSP for Spring 2010
ECSP offers internships for students with an interest in, coursework related to, and/or experience working on environmental and human security topics.
ECSP usually selects interns for each academic term (i.e., for Fall, Spring, and Summer internships of approximately three to four months); however, appointments can be made throughout the year for periods of varying length. No internship will exceed one year in duration. As a general rule, ECSP is looking for individuals who are willing to devote about 20 hours per week.
These internships are designed to provide the individuals selected with the opportunity to gain practical experience in an environment that combines academic study and public policy. Internships also provide opportunities to attend events within the Wilson Center and around Washington.
Assignments might include:
- conference organization;
- library and internet research;
- assistance with the preparation of publications and/or outreach materials; and
- administrative assignments in support of ECSP activities.
Applicants should:
- possess strong research, writing, and/or administrative skills;
- be detail-oriented;
- be able to work both independently and as part of a group; and
- be enrolled in a degree program, recently graduated (within the last year), and/or have been accepted to enter an advanced degree program within the next year.
ECSP offers both paid and unpaid internships. The number of paid internships is limited. An individual selected for a paid internship will be expected to present proper evidence establishing his or her eligibility to work in the United States prior to being appointed. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires employers to hire only individuals who are eligible to work in the United States.
