“The fact that we have talked about Cuba so much demonstrates that this is a problem of the United States”, said Insulza during a conference at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. “Is it worth keeping an artificial situation for the rest of the countries in the region, and indeed, defend a policy that has had no success in 50 years?”, he questioned in relation to the trade embargo that Washington imposed on the communist island in 1962.
