East European Studies Short-term Research Scholarships

The Wilson Center's European Studies Program is now accepting applications for the EES Short-term Grant competition, which is open to academic experts and practitioners, including advanced graduate students, engaged in specialized research requiring access to Washington, DC and its research institutions. Grants are for one month and do not include residence at the Wilson Center. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, in order to be considered eligible for this grant opportunity. The deadline for this grant cycle is: September 1, 2012.

The Cold War History Research Center in Budapest is pleased to announce it has recently published "A Chronology of the History of the Soviet Bloc, 1945-1991: Part 1, 1945-1950" edited by Csaba Bekes, founding director of the Cold War History Research Center and visiting professor at Columbia University.

The European Studies Program is happy to announce our new Title VIII Research Scholar, Alice Freifeld. She will be in residence at the Wilson Center until July 2012, working on a project tentatively entitled “Displaced Hungarian Jewish Identity, 1945-48.”

East European Studies Junior Scholars' Training Seminar

The European Studies program is now accepting applications for its Junior Scholars' Training Seminar - a scholarship opportunity for graduate students (MA and above) working towards a degree in the social sciences and humanities with a regional focus on Central and Eastern Europe, including the Baltic states. The application deadline has been extended until May 18, 2012.
