Project Summary
Explores the interrelation of narrative point of view and theodicy in the tradition of Russian novels primarily concerned with the depiction of evil: Gogols Dead Souls, Dostoevskys The Devils, Belys St. Petersburg, and Bulgakovs Master and Margarita. Delineates a specifically Russian conception of the devil, and explores broader theoretical territory inasmuch as it isolates its approach to the narrative view point.
