David Stuart Lane
Project Summary
Characterizing the use of labor in the Soviet market as it is distinct from capitalist societies, Dr. Lane analyzes its uses and attempts to locate the faults for the labor shortage. Lane concludes that the shortages are due to systemic contradictions, being as planners have little control over recruitment and supply. Lanes analysis differs from his contemporaries in that it attempts to account for the relationship between politics and the economy.
