A lawyer who holds the DR iuris degree from Bonn University, Ambassador Ahrens has had a long and distinguished career in the German diplomatic service. He served as Ambassador to both Colombia and Vietnam, and he had other diplomatic assignments in China, Brazil, and the former Yugoslavia.
