Project Summary
The nationalist manifestations in Armenia were affected by the legacy of the Soviet rule, when ethnicity had steadily developed into nationalism challenging Communism as the legitimizing ideology. As much as nationalism was a driving force in the struggle against Communism, it also provoked tensions with liberalism.
