Project Summary
Surveys and analyzes he history of the struggle for the Jewish exodus from the USSR from 1948-1980. Examines the struggle of the Jews within the USSR and the struggle conducted on their behalf by governments, groupings and individuals throughout the Western world. Asks the degree to which the Soviet Jewish effort to leave the USSR was the result of official Soviet pressures and discriminatory policies or of social, popular antisemitism.
