Latin American Program in the News: La desigualdad puede ralentizar el desarrollo económico de América Latina

In this article, El País dicusses the Latin American Program's event "Social Gains in the Balance: A Challenge for Fiscal Policy in Latin America and the Caribbean" that was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014.  The event was co-sponsored by the World Bank and the Inter-American Dialogue and discussed the World Bank's new report Social Gains in the Balance: A Challenge for Fiscal Policy in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the region's recent gains in reducing poverty and inequality. The article discusses the World Bank's advice to the region and the suggestion to adopt redistributive fiscal policies and to guarantee access to basic products in order to maintain growth.
