Latin American Program in the News: Santos gana el Premio Wilson al servicio público

The Woodrow Wilson Center announces Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos as the winner of the Wilson Award for Public Service.

El galardón, que fue anunciado en Washington, lo recibirá el mandatario colombiano en septiembre, por el impulso a la democracia, la seguridad y la paz en Colombia.

El presidente colombiano Juan Manuel Santos fue premiado con el Premio Wilson al Servicio Público, galardón que recibirá en septiembre en Nueva York, informó este miércoles el centro estadounidense del mismo nombre.

"A lo largo de toda su vida, el presidente Santos ha estado comprometido con el servicio público mediante el impulso a la democracia, la seguridad y la paz en Colombia", explicó la directora del centro con sede en Washington, Jane Harman, citada en un comunicado.

El Centro Wilson fue creado en honor a Woodrow Wilson, presidente de Estados Unidos durante dos mandatos (1913-1921) y Premio Nóbel de la Paz por sus esfuerzos tras la I Guerra Mundial.

Santos, el primer colombiano en recibir el Premio Wilson, es también el tercer latinoamericano, tras los brasileños Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva y Dilma Rousseff. Please click here for the original article.
