Mexico and the United States are no longer “distant neighbors” but have become “intimate strangers,” tied together by intense ties across the border but with limited understanding of each other, writes Andrew Selee in an op-ed in the Mexican newspaper El Universal.

Con la visita del presidente Obama a México, es un buen momento para reflexionar sobre dos libros que han salido en los últimos días y que intentan entender, desde diferentes enfoques, como la relación entre México y Estados Unidos ha ido evolucionando en años recientes. El primer libro, titulado Embajadores de la reconocida periodista mexicana Dolia Estévez contiene entrevistas con ltodos los embajadores de EUA en México desde los finales de los años setenta hasta el año pasado. Este libro, que también se publicó en inglés por el Centro Wilson, pone en carne y hueso la relación tan imbricada que vivien estos dos países a través de las palabras de algunos de sus protagonistas más recientes, incluyendo Carlos Pascual, Tony Garza, Jeff Davidow, Jim Jones y John Negroponte.
