The 2024 Elections in Brandenburg: Trends and Transformations in East German Politics
On September 22, 2024, the German state of Brandenburg held its elections. What were the results and how do they differ from the recently held state elections in Saxony and Thuringia? How difficult will it be to form a government? What is the appeal of parties such as AfD and BSW in East Germany and what does this apparent dissatisfaction with mainstream parties mean for next year's German federal elections?
