What Is At Stake In Afghanistan's Parliamentary Election?
On October 20, Afghans are scheduled to go to the polls for twice-delayed parliamentary elections. Despite security threats and concerns about access to polls and inadequate polling station technologies, the government plans to move forward. What are the main challenges for the elections, how do Afghans feel about these polls, and what is at stake, particularly with an eye toward presidential elections scheduled for next year?
