Geopolitical Shifts and New Alliances in Eurasia

As the broader Eurasian region navigates a period of profound geopolitical transformation, the realignment of alliances and partnerships has become a focal point for many countries in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Russia's war against Ukraine has significantly disrupted longstanding political and economic dependencies, particularly on Russia, creating both challenges and new opportunities for countries in this region. How will these nations respond to this shifting geopolitical landscape? Can they reduce their reliance on Russia and China, and strengthen ties with Europe, South Asia, and the Middle East? What role can the United States and other Western nations play in facilitating this transition?

The Kennan Institute and South Asia Institute (which is part of the Indo-Pacific Program) are pleased to invite you to the first of a series of panel discussions under the theme "Diversification in Broader Eurasia: Navigating Opportunities Amid Geopolitical Shifts."
