Full Biography

Ieva Zake, Ph.D. is currently Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Millersville University, PA. She served previously as Vice Provost at The College of New Jersey and Associate Dean at Rowan University. Her research has dealt with issues of nationalism and post-communist transition in Latvia, political activism of post-world war II Eastern European refugees in the US, nationalities in American politics  and Soviet policies toward Latvian refugee community in the West. She is an author of “Anti-Communist Minorities in the US: Political Activism of Ethnic Refugees” (Palgrave), “American Latvians: Politics of a Refugee Community” (Transaction), “New Directions in Sociology: Essays on Theory and Methodology in the 21st Century” (McFarland) and numerous peer-reviewed academic articles.
