Full Biography
Sophia Karperos is a student at Yale College, where she double majors in Global Affairs and French (degree expected May 2024). Her studies include economics, international development and security, global politics, philosophy, and French conversation and literature. As a three-season varsity athlete, she runs indoor and outdoor track and field and cross country, training 25 hours a week.
During the summer of 2022, she was awarded the Leitner International Research Fellowship to support participation in a summer intensive program on French language, literature, and culture in Avignon, France. And during the summer of 2023, she interned in the U.S. House of Representatives in the Office of Congressman Ami Bera (CA-06), where she served as the lead intern on House Foreign Affairs Committee projects.
She grew up in Sacramento, California, where she interned for Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and for Covered California. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and backpacking, reading, and playing the piano.
