    Full Biography

    Born in 1973 in Moscow, Stephan Solzhenitsyn lived in the West from the moment of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s 1974 expulsion until 2004, when he returned to live in Russia. Over his life, he has participated in a number of his father’s projects and publications and is a board member of the Russian Social Fund and the Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Center. While in the USA, he received his education in environmental studies and city planning. He holds a master’s degree from MIT and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard. Stephan’s professional work in the USA spanned the energy, real estate and transport sectors. He conducted and managed environmental impact studies and licensing / permitting procedures. In Russia, he has focused mainly on electric power, district heating, greenhouse gas emission abatement and the nuclear, coal and freight industries.
