Walking with Gorillas: A Conversation with Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka (Book Launch)

Along with the Environmental Change and Security Program, the Wilson Center’s Africa Program co-hosted Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka to discuss her book Walking with Gorillas: The Journey of an African Wildlife Vet. Founder and CEO of Conservation Through Public Health, Dr. Kalema-Zikusoka is a pioneer in the One Health approach to conservation and public health. In her book, she recounts the experiences which led her to revolutionize conservations with a focus on the integrated health of humans and wildlife.

The Southern Voices Network for Peacebuilding Annual Conference

Each year, the Africa Program hosts an annual conference to promote dialogue and collaboration within the network and share important recommendations and ideas with a wider audience. The 2023 conference will take place in South Africa from September 11-15 under the theme, “Examining Democracy, Governance, and Peacebuilding in Africa.” As we approach this year’s conference, watch public sessions from last year's conference “Business Unusual: A Rapidly Changing World Calls for Adapting Peacebuilding in Africa” and read the conference report.

[WATCH] Democracy & Elections Through Religious Engagement: A New Framework for Policy & Practice: In an event co-hosted by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), Africa Program Director Oge Onubogu spoke about the role of religious actors and dynamics in electoral processes. The event was centered around a recent IFES white paper focused on aiding the electoral support community with assessing religious involvement and responding to religious dynamics in this space.
