Mark Kleiman

Mark Kleiman is Professor of Public Policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, on leave as a Visiting Fellow at the National Institute of Justice. He received his B.A. in political science, philosophy, and economics from Haverford College and  his Ph.D. in public policy from Harvard, where he taught for several years. Mr. Kleiman served as Director of Policy and Management Analysis in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice from 1981-1983 and is the editor of the Journal of Drug Policy Analysis and the author of four books, including When Brute Force Fails: How to Have Less Crime and Less Punishment.
