Lucía Meza Guzmán is the Fuerza y Corazón por México (Strength and Heart for Mexico) candidate for the governorship of Morelos. Born in Cuautla, Morelos in 1975, she holds a degree in public administration from Universidad Latinoamericana.
Though Meza’s current political affiliation is with the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), her political career originally began with the Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) in 1988. From 1998 until 2000, she was Coordinator of Social Development for Cuautla and from 2003 until 2006, she served as a member of Cuautla’s city council. She was elected local deputy with the PRD in 2006 and reelected in 2012. In 2015, she was elected federal deputy with the PRD, but changed her party affiliation in 2017 to Morena, citing ideological differences. She was elected federal senator in 2018, representing Morena. Meza sought Morena’s nomination as candidate for the governorship of Morelos, but ultimately did not receive it. She subsequently resigned from the party and joined the PRI, eventually securing the nomination for the Fuerza y Corazón por México coalition, which in Morelos includes the PRI, the PAN, the PRD, and Redes Sociales Progresistas de Morelos.
