Washington—The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars has appointed Troy Stangarone as the new director of the Hyundai Motor-Korea Foundation Center for Korean History and Public Policy. 

Mr. Stangarone is a leading Washington-based analyst on key issues shaping relations between the United States and the Republic of Korea, and his policy expertise and thought leadership about the Korean Peninsula is well-recognized in both Washington and Seoul. 

Prior to joining the Wlson Center, Stangarone was senior director and fellow at the Korea Economic Institute where he focused on trade and economic issues, oversaw its programmatic initiatives, and spearheaded relations with Capitol Hill. He has also worked in Congress for Senator Robert Torricelli and as an aide to New Jersey Governor James McGreevey. 

Stangarone is a member of the Korea-America Student conference’s National Advisory Committee and the Steering Committee of the North Korea Economic Forum at the George Washington Institute for Korean Studies. He is a columnist for the Korea Times and is widely quoted on US-Korea relations in leading media outlets including CNBC, CNN, the Financial Times, the South China Morning Post, and the New York Times. 

He received an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Memphis.
