AfPak File: Imran Khan's Mounting Political Challenges

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has entered 2022 trying to achieve something that no civilian prime minister in Pakistan has ever achieved: Serve out a full five-year term.

With national elections scheduled for 2023, Khan's performance this year will give an indication of his prospects going into next year's election.

Khan currently faces numerous challenges, including a worsening economic crisis, increasing terrorist violence, and a fresh anti-government campaign led by an opposition alliance.
