This month marks one year since the World Health Organization designated the coronavirus outbreak as a global pandemic. Today, Pakistan is fighting a fresh surge of infections, with the number of daily new cases approaching levels not seen since last year.
At the same time, it is facing challenges with vaccine delivery, especially with many Pakistanis exhibiting vaccine hesitancy.
The latest episode of The AfPak File takes stock of the COVID-19 situation in Pakistan, one year later. Dr. Faisal Sultan, the special assistant to the prime minister on health, offers an update on the government’s response and next steps.
