Claudia Delgadillo González
Claudia Delgadillo González is the Frente X Jalisco (Front for Jalisco) candidate for the governorship of Jalisco. The Frente X Jalisco is part of the nationwide coalition, Sigamos Haciendo Historia (Let's Continue Making History). Born and raised in Guadalajara, Delgadillo is a lawyer by trade with an extensive political career that spans more than 20 years and includes various positions both at the local and federal levels. She was affiliated with the PRI until 2018 when she changed her alliance to Morena.
From 2003 until 2006, Delgadillo served as a federal deputy with the PRI, and from 2006-2009, she served as a member of Guadalajara’s city council. Upon conclusion of this term, she served as the secretary for social development on the city council (2009-2012) and worked as the campaign manager for the PRI’s candidate for Guadalajara’s municipal presidency in 2009. From 2012-2015, Delgadillo served as a federal deputy with the PRI and spent the next three years, serving as a deputy in Jalisco’s local congress (2015-2018). After shifting her alliance from the PRI to Morena in 2018, Delgadillo served as the presidential campaign coordinator for Morena in the state of Jalisco. In 2021, Delgadillo won a federal deputy seat with the Juntos Hacemos Historia coalition.
Gender parity rules set by the INE for the 2024 elections mean that the parties must nominate at least five female candidates for the nine gubernatorial elections. Carlos Lomelí, another Morena candidate, consistently led the polls in Jalisco (receiving 23.9% of the vote in a Morena survey, 22.6% in Buendía and Márquez survey, and 24.7% in Mendoza Blanco & Asociados survey), with Delgadillo following behind (receiving 18.6%, 15.2%, and 20.6% of the vote respectively). However, given the INE’s gender parity rules, Delgadillo was ultimately selected as the coalition’s candidate for the 2024 gubernatorial election.
