Initiative for Knowledge in the Americas (INKA)

The Initiative for Knowledge in the Americas (INKA) is a transformative regional effort to enhance science, technology, and innovation capabilities across Latin America. Developed under the leadership of the Wilson Center and in partnership with regional and global organizations, INKA addresses the region’s historical underinvestment in science and technology and promotes sustainable development, economic growth, and regional and international cooperation.

INKA will integrate Latin America into global scientific and technological networks, while tackling critical socioeconomic challenges, such as inequality, environmental degradation, and economic stagnation. By leveraging the expertise of its partners, including government agencies, academic institutions, private sector actors, and multilateral organizations, the initiative will mobilize resources, promote collaborative innovation, and strategically invest in high-impact areas, such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and sustainable development.

With the Wilson Center as its hub, INKA emphasizes inclusivity, capacity building, and alignment with global scientific trends, ensuring that Latin America actively participates in the global knowledge economy.

Latin America Program

The Wilson Center’s prestigious Latin America Program provides non-partisan expertise to a broad community of decision makers in the United States and Latin America on critical policy issues facing the Hemisphere. The Program provides insightful and actionable research for policymakers, private sector leaders, journalists, and public intellectuals in the United States and Latin America. To bridge the gap between scholarship and policy action, it fosters new inquiry, sponsors high-level public and private meetings among multiple stakeholders, and explores policy options to improve outcomes for citizens throughout the Americas. Drawing on the Wilson Center’s strength as the nation’s key non-partisan policy forum, the Program serves as a trusted source of analysis and a vital point of contact between the worlds of scholarship and action.   Read more
