Visions of America

July 9, 2011

Joe Sohm, an American history teacher turned photo-historian.

When his social studies classroom became too small to hold his desire to tell the story of America, he set out on a cross continent journey to explore his country through a viewfinder. Fifty states and beyond, countless hours, miles, and images later, the mission has changed from one of photographing a nation to photographing an idea. This week on dialogue, host John Milewski speaks with Joe Sohm, an American history teacher turned photo-historian who has recently chronicled some of his best work and the story of his travels in a new book, Visions of America: Photographing Democracy. Scheduled for broadcast starting February 24th, 2010 on MHz Worldview channel.
