Africa: Year in Review 2024
Join the Wilson Center Africa Program to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its annual Africa: Year in Review publication on February 6th, 2025, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm ET.
Each year, the Wilson Center Africa Program partners with African and US-based policymakers, practitioners, scholars, and experts to publish a series of impactful essays reflecting on the most important developments across the African continent, in US-Africa relations, and on Africa’s role in the global arena over the past year.
In this year’s edition, we are excited to share essays from key thought leaders and policy actors influencing and shaping Africa-related policies. Africa: Year in Review 2024 features reflections on critical topics such as the ongoing war in Sudan, growing African leadership on the global stage, large-scale infrastructure projects, and one of the biggest election years for the continent. The authors assess the implications of these developments for the social and political futures of Africa, the United States, and the world at large.
The Africa: Year in Review 2024 launch event will examine the key successes and challenges of the past year as highlighted by the contributors to this year’s edition. Their insights provide guidance to policymakers and the public on how recent events will impact US-Africa relations going forward. The event’s featured panelists will discuss a wide range of interconnected topics, exploring key issues in African governance, economic growth, peace and security, and humanitarian and development assistance.
We invite you to join us as we look back on an eventful year and discuss what is in store for US-Africa relations in 2025.
