Book Launch: China's Future
China's future is arguably the most consequential question in global affairs. Having enjoyed unprecedented levels of growth, China is at a critical juncture in the development of its economy, society, polity, national security, and international relations. The direction the nation takes at this turning point will determine whether it stalls or continues to develop and prosper. Will China be successful in implementing a new wave of transformational reforms that could last decades and make it the world's leading superpower?
Overview
There are few issues more important in world affairs than China's domestic evolution and international behavior. In his latest book, China’s Future (Polity Press, March 2016), renowned China Scholar and former Wilson Fellow David Shambaugh examined the challenges China faces and poses at present, and the alternative pathways the nation could follow in the years ahead. All those who need to know about China's possible futures will welcome this analysis, which Professor Shambaugh discussed in this book launch lecture.
