Overview

As the consequences of climate change grow ever more dire, it seems imperative that we use every alternative to carbon-based fuels—but does this include nuclear energy?  Author Daniel Poneman argues that it does, despite the risks that atomic materials and technology could fall into the hands of terrorists. Drawing on his extensive experience as a former Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy and former member of the National Security Council staff, Poneman argues that the issues of atomic power and climate change are inextricably linked. He will address the dangers and offer a series of policy and security proposals premised on cooperation between government and industry to maximize energy benefits and minimize risks.
