Kennan Long View Series | To Run the World
This Long View conversation concentrated on the widely discussed new book, To Run the World: The Kremlin's Cold War Bid for Global Power, by Sergey Radchenko, the Wiliam E. Schmidt Distinguished Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. To Run the World is a path-breaking study of Soviet foreign policy, and one that integrates China, the Soviet Union, and the United States into a truly global history of the Cold War. Radchenko's argument that in addition to the construction of communism the Soviet Union sought the status and recognition of great-power status sheds considerable light on present-day patterns and impulses in Russia's foreign policy.
