Sustainable Agriculture in the Tropics: A Conversation on Best Practices with Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture Tereza Cristina
This event is over. For more information, see the Power Point presentations available below.
Brazil is a well-known agricultural powerhouse and a key participant in strategies to ensure global food security in the coming decades. Yet given the substantial environmental challenges facing the world, partnerships and cooperation are necessary in order to increase food production in a sustainable and efficient way.
According to Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply, the way forward is to intensify the development of the Brazilian tropical agriculture sector as a strategic, low-carbon emissions supplier of food, fiber, and fuel.
On Tuesday, November 19, Minister Tereza Cristina will address Brazil’s central role in developing the future of sustainable agriculture at the Wilson Center’s Brazil Institute. Her remarks will be followed by a panel discussion on creating a strategic sustainability agenda, through coordination with private sector companies and multilateral organizations, with a focus on best practices and new technologies for tropical agriculture.
