Syrian Journalist Zaina Erhaim on How to Support Women and Journalists Against Online Harassment in MENA
For the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Middle East Program Director Merissa Khurma interviews Zaina Erhaim, an award-winning journalist and refugee from Syria. While working at the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, Zaina trained hundreds of people in Syria to be citizen reporters, mostly women. In this discussion, Zaina highlighted the impact of online harassment to women journalists in particular, forcing some to remove themselves from the public eye.
